It is one giant souvenir market, but when you overlook that, it is an extremely charming place. You have to throng past pilgrims, tourists and market-sellers. It is like going back a few centuries. However, you can glimpse a little of the contemporary political conflict, what with all the security personnel around.

we took a walking, learning about the entrances to the city, and the streets and the quaters, etc. A tour with a knowledgable guide made the visit to Jerusalem a lot more meanigful. Breathtaking city with most interesting historical sites

One of the few places on earth I would walk to see again. The atmosphere is beyond description, and I strongly suggest a good tour guide. You don't want to miss a thing. The Church and the tomb were exceptional for ANY religion to appreciate. Wonderful history lesson.

A 15 minute walk from our Hotel and yopu are caught between two worlds.

Have good walking shoes and lots of water:) A map is always helpful. The people are amazing and the places of worship are beautiful.

Had to opportunity to reconnect with relatives and was easy to get around from hotel.
