The ticket for the archaeological park also serves as ticket for some other churches in Madaba and also the small museum. It costed 2 JD per person. In the archaeological park itself you can see the beautiful and huge mosaic floor of the virgin church, a few more mosaics from other places near Madaba and a part of the ancient... More

It's an unassuming entrance, and a bit confusingly laid out. No one tells you what to do or where to go, but once you get into the main building and see the remains of the church built over the ornate floor of the old Roman villa it's impossible not to feel awe that something like this has been preserved.

This park is a small one but packs a punch. The mosaics are mounted on the walls as soon as you enter the place. They are well preserved and is shaded from the sun. My favorite part was the small chapel/church under a metal roof -- we almost missed this, so, don't forget to enter. One will see remains of... More

I missed this one on my first visit to Madaba, but this time, after checking out the visitor center and then following the heritage trail, we came by there and since there was no one asking for money or checking tickets, we looked around. And in some ways I found it even more impressive than the Madaba Map Mosaic.

This is a great little sight in the middle of Madaba. It has many well-preserved mosaics plus the ruins of an old church built upon ancient Roman ruins. The man at the ticket booth followed us around and gave us lots of good info about the site, free of charge.

The archealogical park was a surprise, it is much bigger than it looks from the outside (entrance is just before the visitors center). Had a big section of preserved roman road (you can still see the ruts from the chariots) and many mosaics, some from other sights but several preserved in situ. A couple of great examples of mosaics both... More

We were spoilt with having visited a few amazing mosaics at Mount Nebo and St George's church. So we were truly mosaic'd out by the time we got to the Madaba Archaeological Park. Nonetheless it was an interesting 30min walk through 2 separately sites.
