We got a taxi to the city centre mall, then walked the corniche round to the souq. It's a glorious walk passing some lovely buildings, away from the fantastic city skyline. Another must do.

It can be a pleasant walk (or maybe a jog if you can handle the heat) along the water's edge. The road nearby is a problem though, especially if you want to stroll through the nearby park - pedestrian crossings are not adhered to (pedestrian traffic in general is a sore point in Qatar).

The Corniche is a fun place to walk but NOT during the summer hot days unless you are prepared to get sunburned.
