My trip to Damascus came with no expectations. It was not my first trip there, but for some reason, every scene in Damascus was full of the charm that one only encounters during the first visit to a new city. Went to Damascus backpacking with my wife (me 61 wife 59) booked nice small hotel in centre and spent 4 days there. The souk was great, very tall with a corrugated iron roof and lots of small shops selling everything. It is in a walled city centre with the marvellous Omyad Mosque in the centre, lots of very narrow back... More
