I’ve used 5 Bogota for the last 4 years and this amazing woman-owned business has always left me speechless with their penchant for detail, flexibility, creativity, and splendid services.

We’ve had a variety of services from them and they’ve never failed to go above and beyond. We’ve had tours (different years) across the coffee region (Armenia, Pereira, Filandia, etc). We’ve discovered places and spaces with outstanding service, views, delectable food and superior overnight accommodations. They’ve also provided us with extraordinary advice for our travels in Medellin, Cartagena, and of course, Bogotá!

A special note: my family includes teens, elderly (over 80 years old), people with mobility needs, a very demanding traveler who has to have smoking spots/hookah lounges, and a teen who is very active. 5Bogota has tailored all of our needs with patience, kindness, and versatility (since sometimes the unexpected happens in any trip).

Lastly, 5Bogota cooking is by far the best I’ve ever tasted. I’ve witnessed the teaching ability and coaching delivered by the expert. Her empanadas, chicken soup, breads, charcuterie boards, wine and spirits expertise are yummy. I’ll add a picture of an amazing spread we prepared in late 2023 for an early holiday party while in Armenia. Also, we rely so much on this team, we take them with us to many of our culinary excursions - Diana was a life saver in helping us select the best-tasting dishes at places like Cielo, Carmen, Alma, Rodizio, El Jardín at the Sonesta Cartagena, etc. if you are are ever in doubt about a restaurant, take them along and you will never be disappointed with what you order.

5Bogota is now not just a service for our family, they are our conduit to feel and experience Colombia like a local and have extraordinary experiences you won’t get with anyone else. We look forward to many more adventures in the future

Having taken and enjoyed a similar cooking class on a trip to Laos, we decided to go for the combined market tour & cooking experience in Bogotá. We met our very friendly and welcoming host Diana by one of the city's primary markets, in which she showed us around, pointing out and explaining things unique to Colombia. We also got to try a herbal tea (coffee if that's your thing) and taste both a hot corn snack and various local fruits.

Once Diana had stocked up on everything she needed, we headed back to her place, where we met her equally friendly and welcoming daughter. Together they conducted the class, getting us involved every step of the way (and, flatteringly, being impressed by our culinary skills). First we made fried plantains and green bananas, which we enjoyed with the guacamole we made to go with them, before moving on to making fresh fruit juice, a fruit dessert and both chicken and potato empanadas from scratch. Everything was delicious and great fun to make.

As we found doing the cooking class in Laos, the best part of this experience in Bogotá was how personalised and intimate it was: it was just my husband and I and our two teachers. We shared a lot of good conversation with them and left not only with full stomachs, but a feeling of having been welcomed and taken good care of.

Even if you don't have the time or the budget for the market tour (although it's always fun and interesting to see what's the same and what's different between countries in terms of what people eat and such), I can wholeheartedly recommend the cooking class. It will only enrich your time in Bogotá and Colombia.

From the beginning to the end, this was a wonderful experience! First, Diana, and her daughter Diana, brought me around the market, sampling some of the items like coffee and fruit, and explaining the market culture.
We then took a taxi to their apartment and had a fun time cooking patacones and empanadas, all while having wonderful conversation and learning about life in Colombia.
The food was wonderful and the company outstanding!! If I am ever back in Colombia, I would definitely do this experience again!

Diana our host was great. Very good English. Started with tour of local farmers market. Enjoyed coffee and conversation. Explained culture of markets. Stopped at various stalls. Got to try some fruit.

Then went to her place and made empanadas. Really fun. Emails recipe to you afterwards. Fun, polite, informative.

Definitely recommend.

This was such a great experience! We had an amazing time, first at the market with Diana and then being invited into their home with Diana, her mother, Diana, and Luis. The food we made was really tasty and it was a great way to learn more about Colombian culture, because there was time to talk. Highly recommendable!

I had a fantastic session in which we had the opportunity to cook and then eat a tasty three course meal! It was also fascinating to gain an insight and learn more about Colombian culture and the country’s history. I would strongly recommend!

This was such a unique experience. I appreciate that we were able to experience such a diverse cross section of Colombia's food scene. We went from a fruit tasting at the market, to a tour of the different kinds of fish and cheese, and ended up making our own empanadas from scratch!! Thank you!!

I brought a group of 12 women to the cooking class with 5 Bogota, most of them said it was their favorite part of our 8 day trip! 12 people is definitely the maximum number you'd want in the cooking class due to space. We tried a bunch of local fruits, made multiple dishes, and the instructors made it fun along the way! They also explained the differences in culinary traditions throughout the country, which was great to learn.

My husband and I love to do cooking classes when we travel, and this one lived up to some of the best in the world. The tour around the market was informative, and we got to taste all sorts of native fruits. We then went back with Diana and began cooking. It was very hands-on, and we learned a few tricks for making the dishes perfectly. Diana also answered all of our questions on Colombia and gave us some tips for Bogota. I can’t recommend it enough!

As a group of 5 with 2 children 10 and under, we were happy to find an experience that we could all enjoy. We have done cooking classes in several different countries, but this is first time we were in someone's home. Both Diana's were extremely knowledgeable about local foods, and our tour of a local market (including tasting of various fruits and native foods) was wonderful! We had a great time "stepping over" the plantains to make patacones. Recommend going hungry as there is a lot of food to eat (3 empanadas each, patacones, drink and dessert) as part of the meal as well as the tastings at the market.
