We added this in to our guided city tour and I'm so glad we did, it was our favorite mosque. It has interesting pathways to get to the courtyard area, and then has a back room with exquisite detail in the ceilings - although at least when we went it was hard to see because of the lack of lighting... More

Unusually there was a LE 25 entry to visit this mosque and I would suggest to bring with you the correct change. This 14th century mosque is quite tall and monolithic inside but not the most ornate that I have seen. This mosque is very special. It's architecture is different than any other historical mosque I've ever seen. It's grand, yet very peaceful and simple.

Not on the tourist route it seems, we were almost the only visitors there at the time. The area is relatively quiet and we felt completely safe. Leave your shoes at the entrance of course and prepare for white socks to turn black, even though the interior looks and feels clean.
