I paid 35 LE for entrance to the Mit Rahina Museum at Memphis. I also paid 2 or 3 LE for parking for my taxi. Apart from a giant statue of Ramses II on its back, there was not a lot there in this outdoor museum (unless you count the annoying self-appointed tour guide who was always trying to get... More

Just go to Saqqara and give this a miss. One giant statue lying down inside a large building. Outside, lots of stalls flogging more crap.

Such a great name, but such a long time ago that there are only a few bits and pieces left, brought together in a slightly sad and deserted outdoor and (one part) indoor museum. Photogenic, but not atmospheric

Very impressive massive statue inside a building but the site itself is disappointing. There are very little remains of Memphis in comparison to everything else - especially nearby Sakkara. If you dont have a lot of time, this is something to miss! Be careful of the sellers and the 'staff' (definitely not official) want you to take photos of them... More

There is very little here to see except the statue. The area surrounding is more rural and it was a good opportunity to be outside Cairo.

It was great to see Memphis which was a very early Egyptian sight/capital city and I enjoyed the large statues or Ramses and the Alabaster Sphinx, but it is a long ways out of Cairo and if you are short on time it is not necessary. If you are booking on your own make sure any tour of Memphis includes... More

This place was the capital of ancient Egypt for long time. When you visit it now you will be astonished by the huge statue of ramsis, where the egyptian artist with very primitive instruments could create from a lage block of stone a statue with very perfect details. You will see also the alabaster sphinx, another statue of Ramsis and... More
