You get to go deep into the Red Pyramid of Dashur. It is extremely stuffy in there, but really interesting to be deep inside. Feels more like your spulunking than at a tourist site. My wife couldn't take it. She felt to scared and claustrophobic. You go down a long tunnel that is only about waist high so you walk... more

We went to Dashur the day after our trip to Giza - what a contrast, it was practically empty! The red pyramid is amazing - and it was brilliant to go inside. It was quite claustophobic, smelled bad (bat poo gives an ammonia pong) and a long tunnel down, but totally worth it. I was glad to go to Giza... more

We travelled to Dahsur as part of our guided tour with Rasha. The only sight you can enter is the Red Pyramid. And what a sight. Known as the first true pyramid. The climb to the entrance alone is hard work in 120F. The descent is the longest of any of the pyramids (200 Feet). At the bottom are corbelled... more

Our first visit to any Pyramids in Egypt, this was a truly magical experience. It was about a 45 minute drive out of Cairo and off the beaten path. We paid 25 Egyptian pounds to enter the site (this includes the entrance to the red pyramid), you were not allowed to get close to the bent pyramid. We arrived and... more

Giza is great, but I found it to what we expected-bus loads of tourists, cameras & people trying to sell you things. So after Seeing the Sphinx & Cheops in Giza you MUST continue on to Dashur. There we saw the Bent Pyramid & went inside the Red Pyramid! The most amazing thing was that we were one of 3... more

Visiting this area is not just about the pyramids here but it is like going through a time warp back 100's of years ago. Many areas don't have running water or electricity. The farmers still work their farms by hand with hoes and sickles. Donkeys and buffalo are also used in the field and to pump water to the farm... more

The pyramids at Dashur are not often visited by tourists, but they are a major attraction and well worth your time. Our guide from Egyptian Express gave us a great tour. They were built in the time between the Step Pyramid at Sakkara and the Great Pyramids at Giza. The Red Pyramid is a very nice pyramid and you can... more

We arranged tours with Karen from Heart of Egypt (--) and her driver for our stay to do most of the major tourist sites. The following describes what we saw in Dahshur. This location is off the beaten path and not many tourists were there. We had the chance to go inside a pyramid… the Red Pyramid. To go inside... more
