This the square who witnessed the large crouds of Egyptions the refused Mobarek regime, and the place who witnessed the celeberation by its stepping down. Its the symbol for the power of humanbeings to decide their present and future. You can visit the square when you visit the Egyptian museum. I advice you not to go deeply inside the square... More

The square is subject to frequent gatherings which can be volatile, and really should be avoided by foreigners during those times. In calmer moments the square shows the wear and tear of revolution but is pretty central to modern Egyptian political life. Just west of the roundabout is a street called El-Tahrir Street. It is covered in murals depicting the... More

It is a historical place where you can also find the egyptian museum, the mogama3, the American University in cairo (AUC) old building in addition, it connects to different places. Simply it is the heart of downtown... More

After the revolution, this place is not as tidy and advanced as before anymore. Some roads around are closed, mind the Ministry of Interior and other important ministries around, which made a terrible traffic in Kasr El Aini st. The square is now filled with the people who still sit-in in their tent, even thought not that much anymore.

The square became established as a focal point and a symbol for the ongoing Egyptian democracy demonstrations. On 2 February violence erupted between the pro-Mubarak and pro-democracy demonstrators here, followed by the 3 February 'Friday of Departure' demonstration, one of the named "day of" events centered in the square. Within a week, due to international media coverage, the image and... More

Tahrir square is the heart of the Egyptian revolution. It will always will be a place of inspiration where everything seems possible. The blood shed on the very grounds of Tahrir square for nothing but freedom gives the place an emotional value.
