This is a hard attraction to rate, as there are some appealing aspects but overall for the expense it is difficult to justify. Combine this with the compulsory guided tour, which includes a lot of time in the shopping areas, and it was a little tiresome. In addition the site looks as though it needs some investment to bring it... more

We were taken here unexpectedly and at extra cost on an otherwise excellent day rip to Cairo from Sharm. It is appalling, the river is strewn with plastic bottles, the replica statues are crumbling away, the working actors carrying out repetitive chores all day (the commentary is pre recorded) look bored and embarrassed and we felt for them. Although it first looks a bit of a tourist trap, it worths a visit, especially for the excellent recreation of Tutankhamun's tomb and the nice overview of the long Egyptian history. On the downside, it is very expensive for Egyptian standards (150 pounds per person). more

On our third day in Cairo, our tour guide took us to Pharoanic Village during the day and then a Nile cruise in the evening. The village is basically the history of Egypt in a nutshell. When you visit Egypt do not miss the Pharonic Village in Cairo. It is an unforgettable experience as you journey down a river amongst high reeds to give the effect of Ancient Egypt. On the banks people appear dressed in ancient clothing to act out the history of the ancient Egyptians. Commentary is supplied on the boat in several languages.... more
