A beautiful island temple, moved from its original island when the Aswan Dam was built and restored perfectly on a higher island. The Temple of Isis is beautiful and the boat trip to get to and from the island is a lovely experience. Just writing this review, I'm missing being there already.....

I did Philae on the way back from Abu Simbel- having flown in- and did not expect to find such a beautful place. Like AS- they moved the temples to another island due to the dam. In incredible condition- this is a must to see. Get a taxi out (20 mins from the town and 10 from the airport) and... More

The story of the way this monument was moved and the boat journey to visit it adds to its attractiveness. It was good that we did the trip from Aswan to Luxor rather than the other way as I can imagine that this would not have been as interesting if I had already seen the temples at Karnak and Luxor.... This temple is on an island. After paying 50 L.E., you have to rent a boat from one of many dark-skinned Nubian men wearing long, white outfits. (When I was there, a British tourist was yelling and screaming at the person manning the ticket booth because he had been kicked off a boat for some reason and was separated from... More

It was fun to take a boat trip out to this site. The site was interesting to me for a few reasons: 1)The temple has been relocated after the dam construction 2) coptic and other graffiti that holds a story about changing religious views over time.

This site is located on a small island in the Nile. The short boat ride adds drama and charm to the experience!

Worth a visit. The trip across the lake to the site is enjoyable. It is a temple moved to the current site due to the construction of the dam. It is an amazing feat. You would not know that it had been moved. You can still see the remnants of where it came from. It was quiet when we visited... More

This is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. And you have to take a boat to see it. It's nice to see how it reveals to you as you approach, cos the boat has to turn around the island to get there. No salesmen on the island. You can take your time to relax and enjoy such great... More

This is a Nubian temple that like Abu Simbel was relocated to save it. It's a spectacular sight with wonderful layout, showing the influence of classical Greek design on a Ptolemaic era temple. Good carvings as well.
