This was my favorite site on the West bank of the Nile. It is quiet, bleak and sun bleached. It was also incredibly hot when i visited. There are no facilities at all. We we almost alone when we visited the ramasseum and that added to the splendour of the place. It's not the most intact temple or the most colourful. But there is just something very special about it.

This is where Belzoni managed to move the head of the statue of Ramesses from if you watched the wonderful BBC series of Egypt(2005)Worth visiting just to see what it must have been.

Easy to look round with information boards at various locations. I had a guide to take me around but could be done without.
