This was my 6th trip to Kenya and I had never really thought about visiting the glass centre, I do not know what I had been waiting for. Here is a perfect day- lunch at Rolf's which over looks Nairobi National park- incredible views, great food and then you can walk over to the Glass factory, it is great walk... More

WOW!! Getting to the factory is a mini safari, the "road" has to be one of the worst I have ever driven on so be prepared. You are rewarded with a visit that can only be described as like being inside an artists imagination. A workshop and shop where children are actively encouranged to get up to the first floor... More

A bit of a drive from Nairobi, but well worth the effort. Huge grounds filled with outdoor sculptures, a glass blowing shop, and several small buildings selling various types of glassware and glass art. A new strange glass creature around every corner. Very funky and whimsical, bits of bright colored glass decorating everything you see, from the flagstone paths to... More

We didn't know what to expect as this fantastic place doesn't figure in any "travel guide" about Nairobi day trips. It is really words by mouth, but we definitively would like to thank the friend who had oriented us to this Day Dream... Eyes wide open, we projected ourselves in this marvelous place where ART BRUT is IN side every... More

Kitengela Glass is one of the coolest art compounds I have ever seen... And I have seen many. It is also very nice to see Kenyans with such great glass blowing talents. I highly recommend going.

We ventured along the winding track , after a friend recommended Kitengela as a must see! It's the epitome of shabby chic , eclectic , with amazing crafts on sale in several galleries. Nani and her staff are welcoming - along with a bevvy of fabulous dogs ! We bought an amazing glass Zebra for about 30 pounds - a... More

If you like glass and the environment this is the place for you. What an extraordinary, quirky, eclectic place to visit. I loved it. From the furnaces and glass blowers to the workers making glass and cement tabletops the treasures here were the people, the glass and the interesting fun art. This was not easy to get to as the... Right 'around the corner' from Rolf's Place, we found 2 interrelated art studios (owned by mother and son respectively) that were more than worth a visit. We were fortunate to be given tours both of the foundry (owned by the son) and the artist's stained glass studio (the mother's bailiwick). They were quite distinct experiences - the foundry created production... More
