Central HK is patchy. There are the historic site of Statue Square, which is good to see where ordinary people of HK spending their time outside shopping centres , as well as the interesting Hollywood Road. The rest is narrow foot paths of high rises although this makes Central HK special.

Even if you are not business orientated it is worth getting right into the thick of things in Central to experience the vibe of the Island. Puts Manhattan into the shade!

Walk from one end to the other, catch the tram for a 2.2HKD sightseeing tour on the cheap. Sit by the Star Ferry and drink a beer and play cards or shop in some of the finest stores in the city.

Wandering around the tiny lanes in Central and Sheung Wan is my favourite part of Hong Kong. Great restaurants, bars and shops.

I think Central is the most modern part of Hong Kong. Almost all of the biggest and highest buildings are located here. The area is quite busy. Especially it is the main hub for all mode of transportations. The train, ferry and buses.

After reading the other reviews i have come to the conclusion that the time of visit, makes the opinion. Central is the business heart of Hong Kong, if you like big buildings, modern skyscrapers, footbridges, huge malls, expensive stores, then you'll love it. Yes it can be crowded, come on it is Hong Kong we are talking about. In the... More

.....but not the heart of course, which is Kowloon/New Territories. Some historic buildings remain and are worth a look, including the old police station, and it has Lan Kwai Fong, Hollywood Road and the ferries to the outlying islands. Shopping, business, top restaurants, hotels, going out, it's all here.

OK, so it's nice and impressive, but there's nothing THAT exciting about it afterall. Still, it's worth visiting for the numerous (and obvious) photo-op. Plus, it beats actually climbing all the way up. :) Avoid rush hours at all costs.
