I went to this museum specifically for the picasso exhibit on display now... It was well worth the trip! The permanent exhibits are also worth checking out ...To get to the museum, take the MTR with a couple of transfers... from the shatin station.. you will need to walk for about 10minutes which is okay as it is mostly done... A good place to escape the heat and get an insight into the history of this fascinating city.

Alot of HK residents haven't even been here but i thought it was a great way to spend an afternoon and learn about HK. Some nice outdoor parts to it as well.

A lovely museum, it's a bit of out of the way for tourists but the staff are the friendliest and most helpful (and available) of all HK's museums. A very well-run place with lots of cool information, particularly about the local culture.

We have made two visits to this Museum which is situated out in The New Territories but easily accessible on the MTR. The permanent galleries house collections of Chinese history and culture with impressive exhibits of costume and jewelry connected with opera. On our first visit we saw Chinese paintings and jewelry and this time around there were exhibitions of... More

It's a bit out of the way, but if you want to spend a day indoors or want to learn about Cantonese opera, head to the Hong Kong Museum of History.

This is a good start to accessing Chinese culture. I would recommend a trip on the MTR up to Sha Tin in the New Territories - use the Octopus card for transport otherwise you must have the correct change and (you can top up at many places such as the 7/11) to the 10,000 Buddhas in the morning and Heritage... We recently visited the HK Heritage Museum and had an enjoyable time here. The 5 permanent exhibits and 4 temporary collections were nicely spread out in 2 floors, and while that seemed a lot to go through, we did not feel overwhelmed. There was an optimal number of items on display, the galleries were spacious, and there were few visitors,... More
