We came by chance after visiting the flower market. Really interesting to see different birds (and their food!).
In a compact area on Kowloon there are many different varieties of bird. Some are for sale, but many have been brought there by their owners so they can socialise with other birds. the shops have birds, cages and food for sale. Much of the food is still alive! Well worth a visit.
A great spot and well worth a visit for both bird and people watching. Note that it has moved to the spot market in Trip Advisor as Bird Garden, about half a mile away and next to the flower market
We visited several markets in Hong Kong & Kowloon, and most were a big disappointment. The Bird Market was the most unique of the bunch. There were tons of birds and bird-related items for sale, and also many people just bringing their birds out to the market for some fresh air and scenery! Sometimes it was a little sad to... More
If you're birdwatcher or just looking for some interesting subjects to photograph, take a stroll down to the Bird Market. Lots of nearby residents bring their birds down to the market to socialize (their birds and themselves) in the morning. From canaries to finches, lovebirds to parrots, the Bird Market is usually alive and chirping during the early morning. Expect... More
I really wanted to come here as I have a pet cockatiel and love seeing birds. The easiest way to reach here is to take the MTR to Prince Edward station and walk from there. You can say it is cruel to keep these birds in such small cages but I must say they appeared to be in good condition... More
Nice to see the birds singing songs and even it is like a get to gether for the chinese and socialising .These people difinetly like their birds and take very good care of them and even u get to see different types of insects kept here which r used as food for the birds and they can be brought here... It had been moved to the bird garden 3 or 4 years ago (look for the address here in trip advisor). It is a non turistical street, so difficult to find, and you really have a big disappointment when you find out that this app was not updated.
Growing up raising birds, I was more into this than my husband but he still enjoyed it (but maybe not as much). The place is kept clean and it doesn't smell. except for two birds, they all look healthy. Perhaps the sellers see westerns and know we can't travel with a live bird, so they tend to leave us alone... More
Our hotel recommended this along with the flower market, goldfish market, ladies market, etc. It's basically a block long. Birds and bird cages for sale, plus bags of fresh crickets (yum). Some interesting local flavor, but a lot of the same thing. Worth about 15 minutes.
