Village was a little too Disneyfied. Monkey theater was not worth it. Reminded me of the Tiki Room at Disneyland. Buy the ticket for the Giant Buddha and snack. After you tour the Buddha you can have a snack of 2 dim sum and rice noodles in the Monastery. Yummy!

You can take an amazing cable car ride to the top of a mountain and then hike down to a beautiful beach on the other side and have a late lucy on the sand of an unspoiled beach.

I am sure that BIG BUDDHA is one of the highlight of HK. But there are more to Lantau Island. one must visit Mui Wo, Tai O as well as Discovery Bay. One friend said that travelling by ferry to Discovery Bay is like travelling by boat to Corsica.

We took the ferry over to Lantau Island, then the bus up to the monastery and the Big Buddha. It was very misty the day we were there, which added to the spiritual atmosphere (and meant you couldn't see the tourist shops!). Saw an excellent performance by the Shaolin monks at the monastery.
