We did a day excursion to the Sha Tin Races for a day time meeting. A similar tour package is available to the Happy Valley races if you prefer a night meeting. For just under $100USD we were taken by a tour guide in a bus with other racegoers to the track, installed in a corporate box with hot buffet... More

While we had a good time, the getting around and finding the right place issue soured the experience.

Not as well known as Happy Valley, this is the newest and latest racecourse in Hong Kong - purpose built and designed and giving just a great afternoon of racing. It puts right everything that is wrong with racing in the UK. Admission is just HKD 10, and that gets you into the public area, with access to really good... More

Still awed by this amazing facility, especially the covered walking ring with stadium seating. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon while in HK. High quality racing in a stunning venue with opportunities for nice payoffs given the full fields of horses.

Races at ShaTin are a great day out on a Sunday. Staff are helpful and friendly so do not be concerned about language issues. Buy a package including lunch with tables over looking the track or make a really great day. It is easy to get to via train. Catch the East Rail line on the mtr Heading towards Lo... More

I love how this place is so local and away from Happy Valley's obnoxious Westerners. there is no 'elitist' feeling here, the locals are friendly, the atmosphere is great and it's a nice way to spend a Sunday, especially if the weather is good. If you go to the buffet lunch upstairs beware: they do not tell you when it... More

A great day out for the over 18s - the horses, the atmosphere, the gambling! Just make sure you know your budget and remember the crowds - keep your valubles safe

Why would anyone visit the Sha Tin racecourse except to gamble? It is far from the city centre, it is over crowded, incredibly noisy. Not worth the trip.

One of our favorite locations during the Chinese New Year celebrations in Hong Kong is the Sha Tin Racecourse, on the first racing day of the new (lunar) year. While many come here for the actual races, we greatly enjoy the CNY festivities, highlighted by the 'Eye-dotting' Ceremony and annual Lion Dance performances which we feel is the very best... More

all the hype and thrill of racing is present at ShaTin. Excellent day out; dining, racing and checking out the horse flesh
