I believe for nature lover, this is the suitable place to visit fot its amazing scenery and green nature. But for shopaholics, Lake Toba and Medan is not for you.

This ought to be a UNESCO Heritage site if it hadn't been designated yet. You won't regret the natural ambience and god given paradise like atmosphere. However the place is way under developed. The roads are bad and traffic horrible leading to the mountains from Medan. Many Europeans and International tourists shun this place after the Bali bomb blast and... More

The largest volcanic crater lake on Earth and the largest lake in South-East Asia. Beautiful scenery. Crystal clear water. No large resorts on Samosir Island. Cheap but comfortable hotels in lovely settings. A great place to get away from it all and relax. The Batak people are very friendly and welcoming and their architectural style is unique. Not a large... More

Simalem Resort is a 3 hours drive journey from Parapat, the place where you cross to Samosir Island. Along the way you can stop by to see the sipiso piso waterfall. Simalem resort was opened around 2006-2007, is a newly open resort which the owner is a Singaporean. We do not see a lot of tourists might be due to... More

Toba lake capticates from the aerial view as well as from the scenic drive around the lake. While there is now plenty of activities on samosir island, it is the overall view that one will forever remember. Best viewed from the hills in the east o the lake. Looking down you can see the vast lake and part of samosir.... More

Lake Toba is breathtaking, as is the island. Samosir is a fairly quiet place to stay. This is a place to relax, there are not many shops and the shops that are here sell the usual stuff. It is a long, at times bumpy, journey from Medan. A lot of crazy overtaking on narrpw roads also make it a little... More

From Medan,we went through a 4 hour adventure climbing up and going down winding roads. At times it was a heart-stopping adventure when cars overtook each other along these roads! On reaching Parapat,we had to board the ferry to go to Samosir Island-another 45minutes was spent on the ferry. However,we didn't mind, since the scenery of the lake was downright beautiful and breathtaking. We were... Lake Toba – Samosir Island It is a perfect place for couples, those stressed up workers who want to destress, nature lovers , family and in fact a place for all who likes peace, calm and green scenic mountains and lake. Stay in Samosir Island. The whole island is for you to explore. Don’t say in Parapat. In Parapat you... More

Lake toba is a great place to relax for a while. Let yourself be pampered by the kindest people at Mas cottages. And don't forget to try the fish in their restaurant, cooked by the mother of the mother of the family who is running the place. It is the best!
