Our next day was a little more relaxing. We spent the morning exploring the Botanical Gardens and the National Orchid Gardens. It was hard to believe this oasis of park and colorful flowers was still in the middle of the city. Rather than find another alternative, we caught the Singapore Airlines Hop On / Hop Off bus again. At S$12... more

The Botanic Garden are lovely but the Orchid Garden are a must see. For a small fee of $5 per adult you will see the most amazing displays of orchids, make sure you take your camera! more

Do not miss the orchid displays. You have to pay to enter this part of the garden but it is well worth it. The signage in the gardens is sometimes lacking but a map is offered and this is really useful. The gift shops have a lovely selection of products. The area is wonderfully managed and maintained. A lovely day... more

This is a great place to walk around in peaceful surroundings. Its free entry so makes it great for a family outing without burning a hole in the pocket. There is a choice of a good cafe for lunch or inexpensive food courts depending on your tastes and budget. There is also a library with plenty of books on horticulture/gardenning... more

I visited the Botanical Gardens during my first day in Singapore. As a disclaimer, I really don't get into "plants and stuff like that" but this was worth the trip anyways. The gardens themselves are free, which is a nice touch. Of note, the Orchid Garden is separate from (and superior to) the Botanic Gardens themselves. Maps are available from... more

The Singapore Botanic Gardens are great, one of the best I've been in . A lovely spot full of beautiful plants and lakes, turtles and squirrels and all sorts. You get used to sweating constantly in Singapore, so another bonus of this place is the fern garden with its misty water spray. A really nice spot, and a must see... more

I went to Botanic Gardens on 9th Dec, 2008 and found it to be an amazingly beautiful place. The gate on Tanglin road grabs the attention by its design and the moment I stepped inside, I knew its gonna be fun. From fish feeding at the pond at reception to Swan Lake, from Orchid Garden to Rain Forest I found... more

We originally did not have Singapore Botanic Gardens in our itinerary. We had free time around lunch so we just took a taxi there. After the visit, it turned out to be the place we love most as well as Sentosa Island. There were so many trees, plants, grasses, flowers and they were well taken care. We enjoyed the slow... more

I visited November 11, 2007. We took a taxi based on other feedback. The Gardin had a surprising number of families with kids playing in a park area upon enterring. If you have children with you, this is a good place to let them run around. Also, the temperature upon entering was very pleasant. Cooler than in the city. I... more
