If you do nothing else you have to have a singapore sling in the long bar of Raffles hotel. Not cheap but worth every penny for the ambiance and beauty of this colonial building

Go and have ONE Singapore Sling, to say you did/say you were there. Have your second drink elsewhere. The original Sling was very good but sorely overpriced. Service at the bar was extremely slow and inattentive. The peanuts are good; it's ok to toss the shells on the floor. A few pigeons were flying around inside the bar.
