The Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago is worth visiting if only in order to marvel at the size of its cavernous interior. It is quite different form the experiences one may have had from cathedrals in Europe and its a must for visiting central Santiago.

A massive Cathedral. Rivals most of the great European Cathedrals

The Metropolitan Cathedral is a nice, but rather dark cathedral in the neo-Renaissance style. It is well worth a short visit if you are in downtown Santiago Chile, but it does not have the same magic or powerful religious quality of many cathedrals we have visited.

Nice church inside, old Spanish-style building with huge pillars and beautiful Catholic artwork inside. Also very enjoyable during hot summer days, as it is fresh inside!
