I had the opportunity to visit two of Pablo Neruda's homes recently--La Sebastiana in Valparaiso and La Chascona in Santiago. Both were lovely, definitely worth the trip. I particulalry enjoyed La Chascona, however--the house is charming, better furnished than La Sebastiana, and this site has the advantage of providing tour guides in English. I've always been fascinated by Neruda's life story and have now visited all of his Chilean homes - each of which is unique and interesting in it's own way. La Chascona has a great tour (available in English and Spanish) You should make reservations in advance as it can get busier on weekends. Make an afternoon of it and have... more

I agree with peakescroft's review. Just want to add: -the house is in Bellavista area. -our guide (a girl) was very knowledgeable. -we have also seen his house in Isla Negra, which is even more interesting .. we have not seen his house in Valparaiso.. more

Pablo Neruda’s Santiago residence, where he lived from the mid 50s to 1973, when he died – just before the Pinochet takeover - is built into the side of Cerro San Cristobal.
