My family of four (kids ages 12 and 14) walked the trail from Cabanaconde through San Juan and Malata and then on to the Oasis hostal by the river in one day. We did this easily without a guide. It was a lot of work but doable. We started at 9 am and finished at 4:30. We spent the first... More

My wife is from Arequipa and we went to visit her family in April 2012. When you do the tour of Colca you can do the 1 day or 2 day tour. We did the 1 day and I would recommend the 2 day. The 1 day tour has to leave at 3 am from the Plaza de Armas. I... More

If I remember the detail of the guides description this is the 2nd deepest canyon in the world; it certainly is spectacular. Once we had arrived at about 8am at Condor Cross (along with about 200 other folks in their mini-buses and coaches) we sat to await the condors. Once they were sighted (about 9am) a long way off, they... More

we stayed in Cabanaconde for 3 nights/2 days and did rim hikes around colca. We did not hike into the canyon. On our first day we took the bus to Cruz del Condor where we hung around till noon when it warmed up enough for the condors to leave home, and saw 8 of them. We then walked back to... More

We stayed at the Killawasi Lodge; home from home. We hiked with a guide and we hiked alone. We went to the Valley of the Condors

I did a 3 day hike into the Colca Canyon. It was a perfect number of days to get some hiking in but also be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of Peru. It was one of the most amazing and beautiful places I have been to.

This was our warm-up for the Inca Trail. The first hiking day was 7.5 hrs long and it felt like we didn't get a chance to really marvel at the villages we passes through. You walk down paths for approximately 4 hrs, do a quick uphill just prior to lunch. Make sure you have lots of water. It was hot... More

The scenery is amazing, and it was great to see much wildlife on the way. The canyon is deeper than the Grand Canyon and the hike is hard, but we did the 3-day option with a good company and it was easily achievable. A thoroughly enjoyable time.

Colca Canyon was the #1 pleasant surprise in our 18-day trip to Peru. It is simply lovely, tranquil, and relaxing. We are so delighted we included Colca Canyon and wished we had booked a longer stay!

I did the two day trek. I would recommend if time allows to do the three day as it is a hard walk down to the bottom of the canyon and gives you a bit more time to play with. We saw about 15 condors - just so amazing. If you do this walk ensure you are wearing proper hiking... More
