A group of 8 of us have just returned from the 4D/3N trail. We were paired with a guide called "Eric" and a chef nicknamed "Skinny Dog" and a big team of guides (each couple hired a guide). From the main office we dealt with Geraldine. In reverse order, here's my take on the experience: - I loved the trail... More

I just returned from a wonderful 2 1/2 wk visit to Peru. The highlight of our trip was the 4d/3n trek with Enigma. I highly recommend Enigma and our guide Paul Enriquez. (I hope I spelled Paul's last name correctly!) The group consisted of my husband, myself and another couple from Australia. The food was fantastic and delightful. The highlight... More

Enigma finally responded to my complaint that was posted here on Trip Advisor - October 2011. They have sent a letter of apology and refunded us for part of our trek that was less than adequate in food and service. They are no longer booking tours in Huaraz due to the lack of service that is provided by the trekking... More

The entire experience was perfect. Our Enigma contact named Carol, created a custom itinerary that was a blend of engaging activities and interesting cultural tours. We spent 3 days in Cusco and the Sacred Valley followed by a short Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. Our guide named Marisol, was a delight. She was knowledgable, caring, and she immediately connected... More

I booked Enigma because it was friendly to solo travelers; other companies require a 2-person minimum. Also, the negative reviews below struck me as attitudes I would not have wanted to spend four days with, so I read them as a positive sign. I took the classic 4-day trek with Enigma and loved every minute of it. The group included... More

Engima did great job on our Inca Trail trip. Our guide explained everything the night before and, a true rarity in Peru, everything happened as expected. We had wonderful, wonderful food (all vegetarian as we requested), the equipment was well taken care of. It rained HARD for two days and everything stayed dry. Another commented noted that Enigma did not... More

I can't say enough about how great this trek was. Our guide Erick had us push hard on the first day to get about half a day ahead of all the other people trekking the trail, allowing us to trek in almost total solitude. The cooks and porters were incredible, the food was outstanding and the service was amazing, from... More

I did a lot of research on tour operators and thought i had made an excellent choice with Enigma. Overall our experience was fine but there were many major disappointments. 1) The rules changed this year for the entrance to Huyana Picchu. Enigma did not offer us an option to buy the Huyana Picchu of Cerro Maccu Picchu entrance so... More

Enigma claims to cater to dietary needs with their qualified chefs- we asked for gluten-free and vegetarian meals. We were served white flour daily and one of our meals had chicken in it. They also claim to provide camp sites with portable toilets which are to be treked out and disposed of properly- this did not happen either. Open fields... More

did the 4d/3n Inca Trail with Enigma in Oct 11. Can highly recommend, good food, small group, well chosen timings and camp sites, good guide commentary on sites and fauna. Made it to Machu Picchu as first group early in the morning, also well worth it!
