From arrival at Poroy station the whole trip was wonderful. Champagne reception, brunch and the bar and observation car set the tone for the day.A real feel for luxury taking you through the spectacular valley to the station at Machu Picchu and then on by coach to the sanctuary. Guides throughout are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, giving you insight into... more

We took the plunge and booked the Hiram Bingham round-trip, figuring that this was a once in a lifetime experience. We had a wonderful time, made all the better by the ever helpful Jesus (waiter) and Carlos (tour guide). The part that was most helpful was the arrival time into Machu Picchu and the fact that when you arrive, the... more

The trip to Machu Picchu on the Hiram Bingham was absolutely amazing, and the highlight of our trip to Peru. Absolutely superb service and the train staff are soo friendly. We loved Carlos, our guide. He was so knowlegable, and took great care of our group. We felt like a family of fortunate guests discovering the ancient ruins together. On... more

If you are doing this trip one way then be sure you go up. It was just a joy. Not sure if it was because it was a Saturday so no return the following day but there were less than 20 guests which meant the Observation car was nearly empty a lot of the time so we were able to... more

Given the price of the Machu Picchu -> Cuscco evening trip on this train, I probably wouldn't do it more than once -- but I'm really glad that we did experience it. This train is a slow mover, so you don't take it to get from A to B in a hurry - you take it for the oppulent experience... more

I just returned from a round-trip journey on the Hiram Bingham and found it perfect in every way. The ride itself & journey to Machu Picchu was everything I had hoped it would be, and more. I notice some people complain about the cost, but when I compare this trip to other luxury adventures, I feel it was a very... more

I am proud to be a Peruvian, who lives in Miami for 10 years now. As most of my friends, we went to Machu Picchu when we were finishing the high school and never went back. I am too embarrassed to recognize that I did not come back in 17 years. However, ending the difficult 2008, I decided to spend... more

I debated whether it was worth the extra dough. I was doing Machu Picchu in 1 day and returning to Cuzco the same day. I like to travel fast but I also like my sleep, especially at high altitude. Much of the reason I chose HB train was because of the departure time. It leaves at 9a.m. vs. the other... more

EXCELLENT! The Hiram Bingham Orient Express Train is one train ride any traveller (who can afford it) should experience in his/her lifetime. It made the trip to Macchu Picchu such a relaxing and enjoyable experience (to say the least). The staff was fantastic and so accommodating. The nice thing about the service is that they made you feel so at... more
