My wife an I are expats living in Rio and decided to visit Machu Picchu over 7 days. A colleague of mine had organised a similar trip through Kuoda who are an agency basd in Peru and the USA. We contaced their representative Tom Carroll with dates. Tom put together an itineray which inlcuded LIma, Sacred Valley, Cusco and Machu...

if you walk it worth much more, you just take about 4 hours, and you can stop whenever, to take photos, it's flat and easy to walk, and you enjoy much better the view, the energy, nature everything.
I have just returned from my trip to Cusco, and Mapi. We took the train operated by Perurail to Machu Picchu on 4/13/12 (by Expedition) and returned to Cusco on 4/14/12 (by Vistadome). It might have been my bad luck, but the Vistadome is not worth the extra money. Expedition is way nicer, newer and cleaner without all the fuss...

When you take the tour to Valle Sagrado, you can feel the energy at every ruin. I suggest to trake the complete tour that starts with the valle Sagrado and then you sleep in Aguas Calientes and take the bus to Macchu Picchu.

My recomendations are do not travel to Machu Pichu in Feb. as we were not able to get there due to mud slides and trains were cancelled. Hotel San Blas was very good...

One of the best train rides we ever took. Try to get the front seats if possible but still wonderful even you cannot. If you don't mind splitting with your group, try to have seats on both left and right (we had 4 of us, including our private guide) so you can swap seats from time to time.

Group of 8 spent 9 days in Peru with Machu Picchu being the highlight. Even though it was the rainy season there were many sunny days which is more than we expected. February is also less crowds, cheaper prices, and very green. We used Peru Tourism with Maria Nunez putting the package together. It was flawless. Great guides, on time...
