We hired a local taxi to the museum (7.00 Lev including tip, hotel quoted us 20 Lev?). The museum is some distance from Boyana Church so we walked to the main road and hailed another taxi up the steep hill (5 Lev). This is a really satisfying journey into the foothills of Sofia. The church itself is a priceless gem. It is one of the few of its type that I have seen still standing with all it's frescoes and paintings inside. The cost is 10 Lev to go inside and it's truly worth it. The Boyana Church is a must see for anyone going to Sofia. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and the oldest part is 900 years old. The paintings on the walls are amazing and for a small fee you can be escorted in to this area. It is amazing to go to a site as priceless and historically significent... more
