More unusual than we had thought. We could smell the soot!

Compared to the many sights around it, the Stone Gate was quite ordinary, though I could not read some things on signs within.

THis is tucked away but worth a visit. It is like a shrine but in the street with pews and candles to light. Very special place. Also there is a great restaruant next door called Triloje which is fabulous.

There is a spiritual and not only religous feeling when entering this small chappel on the open space. Its walls are covered by stone plates with inscriptions saying Thank You Mother, for fullfilling our wishes. It survived several catastrophies thanks to the image of Virgin Mary which was placed in the gate and thus it was pronounced as miraculous place... More

Just looks like a normal passage under an archway, but when you go inside the place is lit up with candles, people praying and walls covered in peoples names giving a real prescence of suffering for a cause. Very small but worth walking through for the experience.

You will expect this to be just another wall around just another old European city. However, this wall is actually a shrine. People are inside the wall praying and lighting candles and revering a portrait of the Virgin Mary. The story is compelling and when you walk through the wall, you will feel the passion.

Kamenita Vrata or "Stone door" is a place I always go to when I go to Zagreb. Kamenita vrata has a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary where in the year 1731, everything burned and was in ashes but the picture of The Blessed Virgin was unharmed and undamaged except for the frame. This is a place that many people... More
