In Bucharest's gargantuan Parliamentary Palace,I witnessed this palace's ornate, ostententaciousness.I saw lavish marble stairs, enormous chandeliers.and numerous palatial rooms.Planned, during the Ceaunescu regime,it reflected this political leader's materialism.Guided Tour here are given in Spanish and English in addition to Romanian. My guide,Andrei was thorough in his commentary and often expressed his hatred toward Ceaunescu and his regime.Guided Tours are mandatory at this site. more

The boulevard if faces is 4km long and the building still looks huge even before you get anywhere close. You have the problem getting the building into your... more

If you ever get the chance to visit bucharest, you will probably come across this building, a pointlessly massive construction that apparently consumes as much electricity as a small city, and the first thing you'll say is "HOLY CRAP". Yes... that's right. It is gianormous, but more importantly, it is one quick glimpse into romania's communist past. All that talk... more

The tour of the Palace itself was quite interesting and worth the time - of course it's bombastic, so while the craftsmanship is superb, it's neither artistically beautiful nor bizarre and quirky, so it left me slightly cold and I don't remember the guide being rivetting. Still, you really have to see it (at the VERY least from the outside)... more
