There is always a concert or some type of event in the Maidan on weekends. I can only imagine all the activity there during the European Championship 2012!

One of the sights tot to be missed while visiting this city. A hugh statue overooking city views all around, a nice park with more war and independance monuments, great for a walk on a sunny day.

A modern, vibrant hub of activity, yet far ess crowded than its counterparts in Western European cities. The statue of the fabled founders of Kiev is worth a photo, but the central statue is obscured by scaffolding, which spoils the view. Visit the huge underground shopping mall for a mixture of up-market western shops (empty of shoppers) and less opulent... More

After a hard day sightseeing the cafes at the western end of the square, near Vul Sofikska, are just the pefect place for a cold beer or rich coffee with which to watch the people of Kiev go about their business. Great!

It's a beautiful place, but it's also very touristy. So many vendors harassing you. The fountain is a nice place to cool your feet. If you love shopping....GO!!

This is a uncommon square, divided by the most used street of the city, full of banks but the area is also full of nice restaurants and shops. When you need something just go there to find it!

I drove through this square on a number of times during my trip and was much impressed by its size and by the statues.given that this was constructed during the soviet era ,the dimensions of the place are of littlesurprise.Worth a visit.

If you want to see Stalin architecture...In Moscow this is bigger and better. A lot of Kiev-people dislike this place. Or like not so much. But near - Sofiivsky sqv, Pechersk - more interessant. In Kreschatik situated Varenichna (good ukrainian restraurant), Club 44 (good bear, sometimes good music)

lots of space to wander, people watch and shelter underground if it rains and continue shopping!
