Even if you not into wars and military staff you should go here, it is very nice just to walk around, listen to a patriotic songs. There are some great sculptures and military machines. Kids will be excited anyway!

Very well laid out. Guide kept emphasizing how things were very different during soviet era. Also has section on Soviet Afghan involvement.

This was a really nice experience - recommended if one appreciates war memorabilia and wants to really know Kiev's strategic role over tyhe past decades.

While visiting the Museum, which itself is very interesting in historical facts, documents and evidence of the Great Patriotic War, but also for the interior style (made in 1979), do not miss opportunity to visit two view points: first one is on the height of 31m (just at the basement of the Mother monument, the elevator takes you to this... Wow, were we impressed here. This museum was really well done. We had a guide bring us through the museum which we found helpful and would have missed a lot otherwise. Really helped us understand the history of the war and how many people died. It was displayed in a very interesting and captivating manor - well done! Interesting things... More

A buddy and I toured only the Great War museum. Despite the lack of many English translations I am still giving this five stars. Unlike American museums where everything is behind glass or ropes many artifacts are out where you can closely examine them. Kudos to the museum staff for a job well done.

One of the main problems that you willexperience as a visitor from western Europe is that you will not be able to read any of the explanatory panels. All you can read are the cards in English which are at the entrance to each gallery. These cards are phrased in a way that would have reflected the Soviet view of the war.There... This is a breathtaking site if you love soviet style military history. The site commorates the enormous sacrifice of Ukraine people in the second world war and contains a mammoth statue (Rodina Mat) which underneath houses a superb artefacts musseum (very little in English though). The rest of the site is a park of other statues, military ordnace and another... More
