You want to learn the Cyrillic alphabet to make your visit to the Pechersk Lavra easier. While there, I came across only two signs in English and the place is very spread out. Without knowing what the other signs are pointing toward, you will miss out on the experiences. It's also unfortunately easy to lose one's way while going from... more

The cave monastery is truly amazing. Incredibly beautiful and full of devotion. It is amazing to see so many young and old people living their devotion. By the way, the art is iconic ... not iconoclastic which means "destructive of icons". more
