This is the second time that we have experienced an enjoyable sail on the Schooner Woodwind. On this occasion (May 2012) the winds were light in comparison to our previous journey in Sept 2010 when the winds were pleasantly strong to allow the schooner to show its paces. On both occasions the crew were excellent. You can involve yourself in... More

We took a 2 hour sail at 4:00pm. None of us had been on a sailboat. The kids helped hoist a sail. All three kids had turns steering. It was an amazing ride with informative facts mixed in. Ken was a great captain. I am so glad that we chose this adventure. It was worth the cost.

The Woodwind is modeled on the historic Schooners which once roamed the Chesapeake. We took an afternoon sail and couldn't be happier with the experience. The crew was terrific. You can passively observe, or lend a hand to help the crew at your option. Three children (16, 12 and 10) had a fun time. This is a great experience if... More

Despite light winds we had a great time on the Severn with the Schooner Woodwind crew! The crew was very nice and accomadating with all of the guests. We did have a problem with seating. A family of three sat down in an area that could have seated five comfortably but refused to sit closer together. We and someother guests... More

Six of us arrived at Woodwind to take a two-hour cruise. Captain Ken is wonderful. You motor out from the piers and then he hoists the sails. His crew is knowledgable, enthusiastic, and cute. When the sails are up, the boat glides (at least on our trip) at a quick pace and there are a lot of other ships, boats,... More

On a recent trip to Annapolis my family and I took a 2-hour sale aboard the Schooner Woodwind. My wife and i have been on (MUCH) smaller sailboats, but have been wanting to see what it was like to sail on a 74-foot sailboat. We weren't disappointed. The Woodwind catches the wind and glides through the water at a nice... More

We had a very pleasant sail ride to the Bay Bridge and back on a windy, perfect-sailing day. Crew was courteous and informative. The fee was well worth the experience. Drinks and snacks were available and rest facilities were on board. The views and well-behaved patrons made for a delightful day celebrating our anniversary. The 1:30 - 3:30 tour worked... More

I hesitated on whether or not to book the sailing cruise, and I'm so glad we decided to go ahead with it. One thing you can't control is the weather, which I understand has been horrible for sailing. Fortunately, our cruise had perfect sailing conditions and you could see the sheer joy on the faces of the entire crew (and... More

The Woodwind and Woodwind II are both beautiful and enjoyable bay site-seeing experiences. They involve the passengers with the sailing, have interactive and ongoing communication about the city and bay, and provide 1 free drink and snack while on board. I would recommend the 6:30 time for summer - slightly cooler with a breeze than the day and you get... More

We live nearby, but had heard about the Woodwind and took some friends from out of town on an early evening sail. It was GREAT. We did luck out that night with a very stiff breeze. The crew was very friendly and helpful and it was nice to have beer and wine (as well as soft drinks) available. The trip... More
