Granted we didn't have much time to stay (only 45 minutes), but seemed to be fine with that amount of time as we found the museum to be kind of boring. If you want to understand Nantucket's history and what made it important then visit the Whaling Museum. The museum was recently redone and is fabulous. There was a lecture by a whaling historian that was wonderful. The scrimshaw(?) exhibit was fascinating. The whole museum is clean, airy, open and interesting. I had no previous interest in whaling but this was great. more

The Nantucket Whaling Museum is OK. Just OK. Its nothing compared to the huge New Bedford Whaling Museum. If you happen to be in Nantucket then visit, but its not really worth the boat trip in and of itself. more
