I'd rented a bike and was heading out to Sconsett, this place was a good stop off for a rest in the summer heat and turned out to be very interesting!

Was very interested that the coast guard and lifesaving efforts were started in Nantucket due to the stranded, beached ships. Very fun afternoon

This is a small unusual museum which demonstrates Nantucket's connection with the sea.

I went there with my family this week while we were on biking trails and came across this museum. The tour was very interesting for my family and I. It wasn't really expensive, for the three of us it was like 11-13$. They had real props from the 1800's like boats, metals, clothing and ropes. It's a great place to... More

We brought our bikes with us on the ferry biked out to the museum on Polpis Trail. There were several delis along the way and we picked up sandwiches and drinks at a Stop n Shop. Enjoyed our lunch on a little hill over looking the site and our 2 youngest sat in a row boat to eat. The museum... More

I recently visited the museum, which has undergone a major renovation. It's a short drive outside of town in Nantucket, and worth the drive, even if just for the picturesque setting. The picture on the museum's web site, http://www.nantucketshipwreck.org, doesn't do it justice. It has a small gift shop which had some nice items. Kids will love the sea dog... More

I traveled by bike to the museum, which was a treat as it is located along a fairly undeveloped road and gives you a really wonderful flavor of the island. Upon arrival, I was greeted by two staff members who were very knowledgeable and did a great job showing me around. The exhibits are wonderful, full of artifacts and original... More
