We absolutely loved Antiqua and wished we had taken some more time out to see the entire town. Even though small, it all starts at the Parke Central and the cobblestone streets and architecture make the place so charming and ancient. The Arco Santa Catalina is an beautiful highlight of a walking tour of Antigua. Go there many times during your visit, but especially at sunrise and sunset and be sure to bring your wide-angle lens for stunning photos of this Latin American landmark. Very pretty area but definitely the most expensive shops in Antigua are on this street around the Arco.

the place is probably one of the best restaurants in Antigua the menu is fantastic and the food is delicious most of the time has entertainment and the setting is awesome, the name tells you everything The Santa Catalina Arch the most emblematic symbol of Antigua.

It is a great area to shop, eat and people watch. We enjoyed the wine bar and Freida's Restaurant.

I visited right before the Good Friday procession. When I looked at the ruins to the left of the arch it was filled with all the "floats" they use in the processions. Very cool to see. Only wish I could have seen them in use at the processions. The textile market on the opposite side of the street is also... More

Make sure you bring a wide angle lens for your camera. I used my 28 but missed my 12-24 lens here.
