I hope I don't have this confused, but we went to a hotel called Santo Domingo which was a convent at one time. There are ruins and museums within the hotel. It was huge!

This place is huge! There is so much to see, discover and wonder around. The place is very well kept. On your way to the convent don't miss the community laundry by Plaza de la Union. You will observe women doing their laundry, in this especially design fountain, probably the same way they did it many, many years ago.

Like many places in Antigua, Convento de Santa Clara is a bit hard to see from the street and easy to miss if you are not looking specifically for it. The entrance fee is 40 Quetzales and inside the gardens are well kept and the ruins quite large (larger than the Cathedral on the main square I would say). There... More

interesting convent, enormously big. We hired a guide which is interesting as his explanition makes the dead stones alive; we only forgot to discuss a price before we started the visit; he tried to have us pay much too much, did not succeed but still we gave him too much...but OK it's holiday !! The convent is absolutely worth a... More

It was a good place to see the view of the volcano and the other old architecture nearby. I spent a lot of time watching a bird atop a big avocado tree. I enjoyed looking at the beautiful flowers of the bougainvillea. It was nice place to just relax for a while.

On a sunny day, go up to the roof with a book or just time. Not that Antigua is so crazed, but it was still nice to go up there, see the views and just relax.
