Nice simple alternative to the old town. Nice easy walk around the island. Botanic gardens worth a visit.

I could stroll along here almost forever. However leisurely strolls are often blighted by huge groups of people from the cruise ships.
A 15 minute boat ride from the Old Port, this well-cared for island has something for everyone. History - the ruined monastery, and fort; swimming; lovely scenery and walks; even a cafe and restaurant. If you only visit one island during your stay, make it this one. You will not be disappointed.
if you want to escape the crowds when the cruise ships come in this is ideal - just a 15 minute boat ride. The climb to Fort Royal is steep but worth it for the view across to the old city walls. The botanic gardens are nor very exciting but there are good walks aroun the island
We went in mid May and it was a very quiet and peaceful retreat from the cruise ship hoards. There's a small lake in the middle called the Dead Sea which you can swim in and swing around on a rope if you can pull yourself up. Also - there's a ton of peacocks. Definitely worth a day trip as...

Wow we had such an amazing time here, the views were to die for. It was very clean and well maintained. They were lots of peacocks chilling about the place. We had a much needed dip in the lovely lake. So much you can do on this island, go there, it's very cheap and you can spend the whole day...

Even though there might seem like a lot of people coming across from Old Town by boat, when dispersed you can actually be alone with nature. The toilet near the harbour is good after and before the boat trip. The garden and monastery are marked. The round island tracks are of gravel and without signs. Walked to the beaches marked...

Lots to see, with long walks all over the island, wild peacocks, and a round fort at the highest point.
Wonderful. Peaceful. Well worth the fifteen minute ferry ride from Dubrovnik Harbour.
