There are numerous museums, galleries and churches and 2 roman theaters . Great architecture and lovely coloured houses.
If I had only one spot to visit in all of Bulgaria... This place is it!
I enjoyed the small quaint alleyways, and the 19th century architect was beautiful. The city felt very safe and was exceptionally clean. Lots of good restaurants.
This area is the birth of European civilisation began, and 1 of the first cities.
need to spend a few hours in old town hills, visit theater and old houses from Renaissance style bulgaria
An intersting place to walk round with old buildings and roman ruins at evry turn.
The old houses are now museums with plenty to interest you and for only a nominal fee. Beautiful interiors and we learnt a lot about the history of Plovdiv - fascinating place!
Walking through the cobbled streets of the old town you can walk from second century roman, through medieval and onto buildings that are only 200 years old in just a few minutes. The view from the top of the mount gives excellent vistas over the whole city.
A very pleasant walk in the old town. It is not commercialised so just enjoy the ambience. Plovdiv city is also really pleasant. Best in Bulgaria.
