Great view, panoramic to the mountains, breathtaking. As a minus is the restaurant near the lake, lower than medium services.. :))

Balea Lake is a glacier lake on the Transfagarasan Highway. If you want to sleep there, there is a chalet.
The drive to Balea Lake is perhaps the greatest drive of my life. The tranfagarasan highway has incredible twists and turns with breathtaking vistas. At the top, the lake is small but lovely. There is a parking lot and nice trails for short hikes or day treks. Vendors sell local cheeses and meats for nice snacks. I would not recommend...

i love the place, it is usually crowded though and you need to get lucky to have a sunny day so you can enjoy the surroundings!

must go to see the sights. the road leading you there is like none i've been on...hold on tight! once you reach the top, it's so serene and beautiful. do not olan longer than half a day there though, unless you plan on hiking.

It was the second visit at this glacier lake, and I've admire the panorama like I saw it for the first time. It's an air breathing landscape. Unfortunately, later it come the fog, and I didn't take good pictures of this lake. I recommend anyone to arrive and see this site.
Way up in the Fagarasan mountains is this small resort where you can stay to trek in the peaks or just admire the spectacular views. There are two or three places to stay but it's still very remote. The actual lake is not so grand but sets off the scene nicely. Around it are a reasonable number of stalls, some...
