This bear sanctuary is a little hard to get access to as they only do a minimum of 10 people visits. I can understand why as they probably don't have any funding and I'm guessing the staff are volunteers. Our party of 6 were lucky a lot of other people were visiting that day. Not easy to get inside: not open yet to individual visits.
We were calling local tour agencies, and finally could join a group.
They only accept groups with a minimum of 10 people.
Absolutely worth visiting.
We remained speechless.

This sanctuary for European brown bears is not open to the public on spec, you must make an appointment through their office in Brasov and are then escorted round by a guide, who tells you the history of the 59 bears they are looking after. Many of them were kept as pets in terribly cramped and unsuitable conditions, and given...
