It is what it is. Much like the "George Washington slept here" motif of many American locations, Bran Castle capitalizes on the myth of Dracula/Vlad the Impaler. Although Vlad may or may not have visited, that didn't matter to my 8 year old son, who found the whole idea thrilling. The castle is well-kept and very intriguing. The hidden staircase... more

This is heralded as the Dracula Castle, but alas it has no bite. Whilst travelling with Romanian friends the whole Dracula/Bram Stoker factor seemed to be completely lost on them 'just for the tourists!' was their remark. Therefore, any ruminants of the castle's history have been lost and are over shadowed by drab white plaster walls. In fact the castle reminded me of a... more

This is a beautiful Castle but the locals have yet to grab its potential as a tourist spot. It is one of the most important sites in the country yet they do not realise this. At the station do not get into the first taxi that waits for you, they are usually Gypsies and their reputation is not good. instead... more

Dracula's castle was quite an experience. We went in March, which is freezing. It's a bit colder than March in New York. The castle itself is quite large with many nooks and crannys to see. Unfortunatly we went to Peles Castle the day before this, so I was a bit castle spoiled :) The Bran castle itself was quite spectacular.,... more
