Bran Castle is one of the most visited historical sites in Romania. It has a quite easy access and the region is quite interesting. Go there ONLY if you want to see a medieval castle. There is not a single historical connection with Vlad the Impaler or with the vampire. If you are disapointed and you don't want to go... more

OK, Dracula may never have set foot here, but one of Romania's most well-loved royals, and a grand-daughter of Queen Victoria of England lived here for many years. The building itself is well-kept and just the right size for a tour - not too much to be overwhelming, but enough historical and architectural context, and a large number of helpful... more

The castle is rather simple and focused on some obscure formal royal family. No mention or sign of Dracula. From the ticket information booth across from the Castle ticket booth I found out about a park called ''Count's Challenge'' built around the purported site of the Count's tomb. It is realy close to the Castle but I don't think connected.... more

We were there in the winter and the snow only made the whole experience better. The walk up the hill was a little bit tricky because of the ice, but still fun. The castle is very nice especially with it's secret passages. In the park around the castle are old romanian houses, very interesting to see. And there is a market... more

Bran Castle is a little smaller than I (and most of my friends) expected but nevertheless it is still an interesting place to visit. Outside the gates to it is a small market which I had a look around, it was obviously catered towards tourists. Quite a steep walk (can be very slippy when icy!) up to the actual castle... more

Tourism is new to this country, I feel previous reviewers have been spoilt in the past, and have too higher expectations. One has to use imagination a little when visiting a place like this. as they don't have the funds to restore it back to it's orginal state over night. We compared this castle with two other ruins in the... more

Castel Bran is a beautiful castle. I've been there twice and it's fun to walk through the castle and in the courtyard and through the secret passage. Definitely go to the top of the castle, the views are beautiful. If you're expecting the castle to be all about Dracula, it's not. Read up on the history of the castle before... more

where to begin... it was AWESOME =]] we stared at a wall for like an hour, went to the bathroom, and talked for like five minutes. so dracula's beach house was cool. well that's what i thought but however my jorge over here said it was to dark to see anything but oh well he's blind so he can't see.... more

It is what it is. Much like the "George Washington slept here" motif of many American locations, Bran Castle capitalizes on the myth of Dracula/Vlad the Impaler. Although Vlad may or may not have visited, that didn't matter to my 8 year old son, who found the whole idea thrilling. The castle is well-kept and very intriguing. The hidden staircase... more

This is heralded as the Dracula Castle, but alas it has no bite. Whilst travelling with Romanian friends the whole Dracula/Bram Stoker factor seemed to be completely lost on them 'just for the tourists!' was their remark. In fact the majority had never been before and were only doing so on my behalf. The castle is above Bran, and is... more
