I was impressed by the architectural grandeur of the Black Church. The high arches and the slowly growing light intensity as you advance towards the altar transpose you into piety, really inspiring. The Ottoman (Anatolian) rugs collection (one of the largest in Europe) is indeed impressive. Still it felt a bit sad to see that very little information was given... more

I visited the Black Church in Brasov, Romania in spring of 2005. Beautiful from the inside, as well from the outside. There was a huge misunderstanding in one of your travellers comment about our "Schwartze Kirche". The Black Church (Holly Virgin Mary), was built by the Transsylvanian Saxons and the Holly Roman Hungarian community between 1377-1477. Initiated by Queen Mary of Hungary and finished by the Corvin Hungarian famous prince Wlad Dragkulya so-called "Tzepass" ("Vlad D"). The Corvin armoires still exist...
