I visited the Library of Alexandria after having lived there for 10 months. The building is extremely impressive, it has all known scripts engraved into it. The building is a landmark, cylindrical with a sloping roof and reflecting pool in front. Inside I don't find it interesting... Bags cannot be taken in and it is necessary to carry all valuables. Leave bags in the small building next to the ticket office. Book to use of a PC for internet access, but all email is blocked these... more

We left Cairo and went on a day trip to Alexandria where we saw Danial mosque, Roman amphitheatre, Amud el sawari (Pompei’s Pillar), the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa,the English tour at the Alexandrina Bibliotheca and then ended off with Montazah Palace Gardens. Would've liked to have gone to the Greco-Roman museum, but it was closed for renovations that day.... more
