I met the Moustache Brothers as they were getting ready to join Aung San Suu Kyi at a rally. As such, we followed them to the rally and got to see The Lady (as she is called by the Burmese) up close. These three men have been performing political skits for several years...at times the government shuts them down. If... More

We saw the show in January 2012 after having read two books about Burma and its history. We were very touched by this family of comedians who went through the terror of prison and torture exercised on them by the military junta for many years. They still have enough optimism and good humor left to continue their battle for democracy.... More

The Moustache Brothers, Lu Maw, Lu Zaw and Par Par Lay, are local comics who have pushed the boundaries set by the military government. They have spent time in prison for their comedy. The setting is very basic, with seating for maybe 20 people at most. Lu Maw does all the talking, and he does speak English, but his heavy... More

Was a great time for a great cause. The mustache brothers is worth the 8000 kyat price tag. Only a couple political jokes, but the slapstick stuff was entertaining. Lots of little one line comments about nationalities and funny catch phrases in english. Costumes were neat and the stage is basically his living room. Cool experience.

Well, it may not be the best comedy show, but I am still glad that I went. These people have been so brave and it is a cultural experience you should not miss once in Mandalay. True, it might be a bit difficult to understand the english, but I still recommend the show to anyone visiting Mandalay! At least you... More

We went there to support the brothers and it's just like the guidebook says: the performance is in a small space in their home and they have shows every night. Though we were glad we went, we didn't enjoy the show as much as we thought we would and I thought their English was a bit difficult to understand at... More

If you happen to have a free night, a trip to see the Moustache Brothers on 39th St. at 8:30 PM should be on your schedule. The performance which is part political satire and part slapstick is a bit dated and corny but nevertheless a cultural experience for those who have found themselves in Mandalay. The admission is $ 10... More

This is not a conventional 'evening out', but going along shows support for people who have been locked up for their views just because they were contrary to those of the ruling regime. So if you support free speech, go along, have some fun, buy one of the most obscure t-shirts you can get anywhere, and be grateful these guys... More

They did not say much at all actually, just a few remarks about how Libya had oil and that's why the world were intervening. The one who speaks English made the point that Myanmar has heroin but no oil (actually I thought that they had quite a lot of offshore oil?) Apart from that there was dancing and I have... More

Its a dance show by old people, they use the political thing to get you in, but its a dance show. The guy tells a few really stupid jokes at the start then a bad dance show.
