We spent a few hours at the citadel, exploring the various buildings and having coffee while looking out over Aleppo. During prayer times you can hear dozens of mosques all give the call to prayer simultaneously, the sound is quite an experience. Afterwards we walked through the souqs close by and did some shopping. I would definitely recommend this attraction. more

The Aleppo Citadel was has a fascinating history--beginning from the creation of this artificial hill to Roman times and through to Muslim rule. The citadel today is prominently located near the heart of the old city of Aleppo. Inside, you will see a variety of ruined and still standing buildings from different eras of the citadel's life.
