Its an impressive public square, second only in size to Tienenman Square in China. Entire families gather in the late afternoon to enjoy the cooler air and have picnics. As the sun goes down and the lights go on, it is an enchanting place.

You need time to wander to the temples, go shopping at the covered market, visit the palace of 40 columns across the road. Excellent in the morning or in the evening.

This place is a pure jewel in one of the most beautiful city in the world. The square is 500m long to 160m large, one of the biggest in the world. There is so many things to do that you could spend 4 ou 5 hours to visit it. First there is a small mosque in the middle of the... More

This square was amazing. So much to look at and do, and buy! Somehow we managed to end up at the square every day we were in Esfahan. There are places to eat, snack, shop, horse carriage rides (this may only be during NoRooz, however), stroll, and people watch. Plus, the AliQapoo Palace is there and 2 mosques to visit.... More

Esfahan is historical and cultural capital of Iran. I've stayed in Teheran, Mashad, Esfahan and Shiraz... and from them, Esfahan is the jewel that you fall in love with. Imam Square is the highlight of Esfahan. This square is amazingly big and simple, yet beautiful in its huge open space and surrounded with few other important sites of Esfahan:the 2... More

A very beautiful during daytime and incredibly beautiful in the evening. Iranian families come here almost every evening to sit and chat with each other and at the same time to eat. Kids are having fun while adults socialize. Here is very relaxed atmosphere. I liked to come here in the evenings to enjoy the illumination of mosques and fountain.

This place - and the city of Esfahan is a very beautful place. The market surrounding the square is fascinating! Try to find the small teahouse in the basement under the east side of the bazaar, north of the street crossing the square - have a cup of chai and a waterpipe and watch all the junk hanging on the...
