Carhenge is a fascinating bit of Americana, and a great stop for those who want to visit unusual places without throngs of tourists. Take some of the sandhills backroads from there to see gorgeous views of the Great Plains, unimpeded by cars on the road as opposed to upright in Carhenge. We were traveling via motorcycle from NJ to Yellowstone. The Atlas lists this "creation" as a must see. Nebraska is a "very" boring and long state to drive through so they need something to capture travelers interest. Mind you there is road construction everywhere. Carhenge is American folk art at its best, Stonehenge re-created with American automobiles. There are other sculptures made from cars or car parts in this open, informal place. There was no admission charge. Donations are accepted and souvenirs sold in a small shop adjacent to the sculptures. What a fun stop! We enjoyed our time there. It was well worth... more

Carhenge by Alliance is a replica of Stonehenge only made of cars. It isn't too far from other Nebraska staples such as Chimney Rock, the Scotts Bluff Monument, and the Sandhills and is well worth the visit, especially since it is free. A fun stop on the back roads of Nebraska. It is out of the way from most travelling through the state but you will enjoy your visit. Carhenge itself is worth it but the other sculptures are a bonus. more

This HAS to be a planned stop on your intinerary. Alliance, Nebraska is not on any major route. I thought we would be the only ones there, but I was wrong.
