A great day hike for the kids. Take a taxi to the Fuerte and hire a guide or book from Samaipata. Really a world site for ruins.

I beleive it is an adventure to go and sight see this area of Bolivia where you'll find hidden treasures on the road. it is one of the most amazing places on earth for its culture, for its history, food, and sights

We took a cab to Samaipata (there is a station where all the cabs going to Samaipata are parked). You can try to get a cab from there, or you can get a private cab. We opted for a private cab because we were able to negotiate a great price.

Last April, on my last day in Santa Cruz, I had to choose one place of out town. The Jesuit missions were too far, and Samaipata was the next best thing. Samaipata however has 2 places of interest, the pre-Inca ruin and the quaint little town (more like a village) with the same name, only 5 km apart. The ruin...
